The Death of A Baller

Greater Love Outreach is currently accepting bookings for our 2007-2008 season of "The Death of A Baller"

Booking are now being received for the 2007-2008 season of “The Death of A Baller, produced and directed by Dr. Charles Upshur. The main character, Nino Brown, is back in full force in this anti-violence drama that has a pointed message to our youth.

In the late 80’s and 90’s, this inspired production toured throughout the tri-state area and nationally to cities such as Washington, DC. and had a live band. This updated and revised must see version is also heightened by music provided by noted musicians Dwayne Abercrombie and Band.

Although “Baller” has been revised and updated, its timeless theme of violence, crack cocaine, heroine, greed, and murder still plagues all areas of society. Baller Nino Brown, played by Rob McWhite, is a menace to his neighborhood and community. Surprisingly, Nino gets a chance to tell his view--from the other side. Drama, poetry, and singing make this realistic theatrical piece one that echoes a plea to help youth of today. It’s an awakening cry to all who are addicted to drugs. The hard-working, dedicated cast is passionate about “The Death of A Baller”, as seen by their dedication to portray characters realistically. Audiences who attended the 2007 season premiere of “Baller” this summer at Market Square or came to The Living Word Church, North Side, found this dramatic portrayal vital, necessary, creative, and exciting.

Dr. Upshur’s love for people, especially for our youth, is evident in his work with his wife, Dr. Marie Upshur, and Greater Love Outreach, which they founded. Their love and passion for souls is evident in the way that they’ve helped so many for over 40 years. He is State Evangelist of the Second Jurisdiction of PA C.O.G.I.C. and Pastor Emeritus of Christian Teaching Ministries where Elder Ronald Burnett is pastor. She is Mother of C.T.M.
